"The Family that prays together, stays together." - Fr. Patrick Peyton, CSC, the Rosary Priest
Prayer, the faith, values and virtues are caught more than they are taught. Experts on parenting say that the parents of the house can best lead their children to be persons of prayer by:
Talking to their children about the Lord and his ways, and letting the children see their own love for the Lord. The children should see that the Lord and prayer are important to the parents. Parents lead by example.
Parents can tell their children about the Lord in age appropriate ways. It is important for parents to teach children to pray spontaneously, because prayer is talking to their closest friend, and other members of God's family. It is good for parents to also teach children some memorized prayers. It is important for parents to help children understand that God and prayer are relevant and interesting. God should always be honored. A house should be reverent, a domestic church.
